2008 Season Camping review

2008 Travel Season
Here are photos showing some of our 2008 travels with a TC. We live in Centennial, Colorado as a retired couple. We stared TC camping in 1966.

Image
In January we headed south expecting to have warm weather. This is the Sonoran Desert on our way to Yuma, AZ.

Image
After five days of wind, we left Yuma under a fine sunrise.

Image
We moved to the South Texas coast starting with South Padre Island. The KOA there was good. I wonder if it is still there after the hurricane.

Image
We had two sunny days before rain and cold hit the coast.

Image
One of the coastal stops was Goose Island State Park situated in an Oak forest.

Our summer trip was to British Columbia, Yukon Territory, and Alaska. We were on the road for six weeks. This was our second trip to AK.

Image
From Spokane we entered southern BC into the wine country along Okanagan Lake.

Image
We went up the west side of BC to take the Cassiar Highway #37. This is Hwy 37A going to Stewart and Hyder. It is called the Glacier Hwy.

Image
The Black Bear is one of some 40 that we saw on the Cassiar Highway

Image
One of the Busiest campgrounds is Hi Country RV at Whitehorse, YT.

Image
Kathleen Lake on the Haines Highway

Image
A side trip to Haines ,AK is excellent. This is a female Bald Eagle nesting near Haines.

Image
The Glenn Highway ( the Tok-cut-0ff) is a beautiful drive.

Image
Camping at the Seward Municipal CG right on Resurrection Bay.

Image
The trip to Dawson City is most rewarding.

Image
Liard Hot Springs.

In the fall we went to Southeast Utah to Canyon Lands

Image
Highway 128 from Cisco to Moab. The Colorado River, looking south to Fisher Towers.

Image
The View from Dead Horse Point, Utah State Park.

I just finished an album on SmugMug of our 2008 Alaska trip for those folks who are interested. The link is : http://clattertruck.smugmug.com/?preview=1

Excellent presentation, as per usual!!!

I believe you've got a single lens reflex camera. Right? What is it please?

Or should I say, what is the camera you used to photograph the female eagle?

Little Kopit Asked about the eagle photograph.
The camera was a Nikon D200 SLR with an 18-200mm zoom lens. The original photo was shot at 200mm and then cropped. With such a sever crop I was pleased that it retained good sharpness.

The one in my post was to too large a file. This one is what it should look like.

Welcome to the forum, and wow, what a great post to get started!

I must get around to posting some of our pictures from the summer as well..perhaps we should all do the same - the photo hosting feature here makes it pretty easy for everyone to share!
