& yes, I used to get rides in Beetle to backpacking trips, Mt. Washington in spring became the 'Wash Day Report', etc.

Hummm...wonder what the GAWR or the GVWR is for a VW. From what I remember about my old 71 model it was just about
the same as the 4 passengers weighed :)

4 passengers????????

3 large guys, 6'2" or more, vertically challenged me and vertically challenged driver. We were the oldest of the bunch. With back packing gear weighting down the front and the luggage rack.......
