Sorry, I just couldn't stand to STILL see only 3 topics in the Fifth Wheel forum. I know there's got to be more of us than that! :D

I've been thinking about standing beside the forum with a yard stick to see if I can't get more to drop by :D

Maybe the 5'ers are all content with no need to query or socialize? They could be a happy camper (literally) sitting there with a drink and enjoying their rig...

Do those of us who wish we owned a fifthwheel count?

ReedMan, we all started somewhere, we just happened to start in a 5er and want nothing else. My best friend, on the other hand, loves his TT and has no desire to own a 5er. Different strokes...
But if you're thinking of changing over, what better place to ask questions, get opinions, etc, etc.

We bought our fiver three years ago and our first trip after the maiden voyage was in excess of 3500 miles. We rented a Class A for a vacation 4 years ago and fell in love with RVing. Didn't think we wanted a fiver but found one that we liked the floor plan and it was light enough for the truck we owned.

new to the site, currently between trailers. Grew up with all types, 5th was my favorite. When I first got married we bought and lived in a trailer for a bit saving for a house. Sold it and want to get a vacation size trailer now. Planning on double towing at some point so I planning on keeping it shorter and it will be a 5th. I also have tons of towing experience so I will put in my $0.02 every once in a while.

Frank... here is what you get....

When I get older losing my hair
many years from now
will you still be sending me a valentine
birthday greeting, bottle of wine
If I'd been out till quarter to three
would you lock the door
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four

Kind of hate to say it but didn't Paul kind of get an ANSWER to that question he posed? :D
As for myself I'm fortunate enough to be in absolutely PERFECT health except for the Coronary artery disease, diabetes, thyroid disorder, clodication of leg vessels, high blood pressure and chronic anemia. Oh ... and I almost forgot about the ongoing mental health issues :D

Well I will tell all this is what I (wife also) believe. A fifthwheel is the best bang for a buck in rving for us. Friend just sold his 04 MH and added $52000.00 to pay the bank. Another has an 07 MH and can't afford to buy fuel. Because our 2001 35 ft avalon alpenlite is awesome for us we might be able to use it because we haven't traded to keep up with the other folks ( used to be the Jones) We live in it 6 months in Arizona and love doing it. We have owned 2 TT's and liked them for what we were doing so enjoy whatever you can do without stress and it will be good. We are 66 and just have a GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER. No bragg Just fact. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) chevman

SIL's father sold their MH last year...reason was that his insurance was $5K/year!! At least he got rid of it before diesel sky-rocketed and was able to get a decent return on his money.

Oh, and for you oldies out there...

I may be weak, I may be fat,
Sometimes can't even remember where I'm at...

May be nearsighted and can't see far,
Can't even open this darn 'ol jar...

The back hurts in the evening and it hurts in the morning,
Sometimes, I just keep repeating myself, know that's boring...

Take so many pills, morning, noon and night,
Got to relevel the 5er to make her right...

Don't stray from the bathroom, no don't go far,
Don't want to have to fight that darn 'ol jar...

X-Rays, CTs and MRIs,
Light my own way at night, Oh My!

They say the Golden Years are coming and I'm down with 'dat,
It's got to get better...I'm only 51 and a half! :D :D :D

We have owned or driven all types of Rv’s , have been to Key West, Fl. , both coast, as for North as Dawson City,Yk. The fivers tow better, easier to hookup and you don’t have as much lost measured space. The only drawback would be needing at least a ¾ ton truck to be safe while towing and stopping.
But, for me I prefer using at least towing any RV with a ¾ ton truck for a better towing experience. We having tried a ½ ton truck for a half ton towable trailer is advertised, check the weight after all passenger and gear are loaded and then go clime a 7% grade.
Happy Rving.

Hi 3ares: I removed your double post for you. Welcome to the forum. It's been very quiet for a while now - glad to see some 'new blood'. :)
