New to forum.

Unread postby Big Dave on Mon Mar 24, 2008 6:25 pm

Hello everyone. I'm new to the Rv'ing scene. Used to go with parents as a kid but just bought my first RV in February. Looks like I'm one of the few Fiver owners so far. I love getting in on the beginning of a new forum. Kinda like being at a party. I'd rather be there when everyone else comes in versus coming in late and having everyone stare at me.

See ya'll around the forum. :D

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. The whole RV experience has been great so far. I'm a gadget nut so I've already been making mods to my Rv to make it more user friendly. The wife hates it because it means I get to spend money and she doesn't. I've tried to get her into decorating the inside and personalizing it but she's just not into it yet.

We will be leaving this campsite tomorrow and heading to the middle of Arkansas for another job. That will take a couple of days and then we're going to Eureka Springs Arkansas for the fun of it for a couple of days.

This is only my third RV forum that I've joined. The other two are manufacturer specific and model specific just to get information about the Rv that I bought. This forum is a mix of all of it from different manufacturers and Rv types. I think this forum will do great.

Dave,

Where are you going in Central Arkansas...some great campground here in Arkansas. Watch for the high water in parts of the state, mostly on the east side of the state.

I'm going to Greers ferry. We have done a job there and are going back to finish up. The first time I was there we stayed at the Blue Cloud RV park. Nice enough but not the best. I wanted to stay at some of the Army Corps campgrounds but they won't be open til the first of April. Looks like I'm gonna have to stay at the Blue Cloud again. It's on Hwy 16 just north of Greers Ferry lake.

Dave,

I'm not overly familure with the Greers Ferry area. Thought if you were going to be near the Hot Springs / Little Rock Area could give you a couple of recommendations. It's a real bummer with the COE not opening until April...some don't open until almost May. They miss some of the best camping of the year. Arkansas is not the best place when it get hot in July and August. Good luck with the camping and job. :)

I've stayed at Grears Ferry a couple of times but we DO stay at one of the COE places so I can't help with a campground. Beautiful lake and surrounding area though. I'm surprised they aren't open sooner though.

Yeah, I thought that by the time they wanted me back to finish the campgrounds would be open but no such luck. The first time we camped there in February we stayed 8 days at Blue Cloud. This trip will only be two nights.

Hi, all. First, let me say it's nice to see some of the familiar "voices" from the CrossRoads site! I still jump in there to see what's going on, but I don't say too much since I jumped ship and bought a new Sierra 5th wheel. Unfortunately, we haven't had the right timing with the weather to really use it yet. My wife is an RN, and works 12 hour shifts every other weekend. Seems like when she's working, it gets warmer, and when she's off, the temps fall  . I work at a local Community College in the maintenance department. Not too bad of a job considering the entire campus is only five years old, so we mostly change lights and automatic toilet flushers.

As you can see by my signature, we have a 2008 Sierra 335QBQ; and a 2003 Duramax to pull it with. We have five kids between us, (second marriage), six grandkids, two Golden Retrievers, and two cats. The Golden Retrievers are the dumbest mutts I ever saw, and are committed cowards, but they are affectionate :) , so that evens it out somewhat.

Can't wait to get camping!!
