Here is a great recipe for homemade buns. It is an interesting amount of work, but well worth it.

LORRAINE'S HOME MADE BUNS

START @ 3 P.M.
1T yeast ( if using pkg 2 pkg) fast rising
1 tsp sugar
1/2 warm water
Mix together in a small bowl, let stand 10 min
*after 10 minutes stir with fork

In large bowl
2 c. water ( hot)
1 c white sugar
1T butter
make this at same time as above and let sit 10 min

Add to above
2 beaten eggs, 1 @ a time
1 tsp salt
8 cups flour
and yeast mixture
make a soft dough
Place in a buttered very large round bowl.
Cover with greased wax paper, place in warm place

11 p.m.
Push dough down and make into buns.Using big tray 12X17 make 2 doz per tray ( 2 trays)
Take 1/2 the dough and divid into 1/4, divid into 1/2 divid into 1/6 to make buns
Store in warm place overnight

Bake 350 for 15-20 minutes or golden brown
Brush melted butter on top before cool
Makes 4 dozen buns

Note: to make larger buns ( 2 Doz) Roll dough to desired size
Note :: 9 hrs from start of buns and 9 hrs rest time

Will it does look like a lot of work But we might have to just try it
