If all else fails try Craigslist

Unread postby mountainman on Sun Jul 13, 2008 3:15 pm

I have been using Craigslist to off load some of my "haven't used in I don't know when" items. It is amazing how fast items sell on this media. So I put my TT on Craigslist on Friday noon. Started getting calls within two hours of [posting and sold it to the first guy who called inquiring about it. Well I am now trailerless, but not for long as I have done more than my share of research and will be picking up a Jayco G2 23FB on Monday from a source that I have never been able to deal with previously.
I have been in contact with RVdirect on several occasions previously so know what I can buy the unit at by driving to Des Moines. It would cost me $600.00 to drive back there to pick it up the unit so I offered RVdirect's price plus $400.00 and the offer was accepted. Things are mighty slow out there in the RV world folks or this dealership never would have agreed to my offer. Can't believe I had that much s--- in my little trailer! I am going to get rid of a bunch of it prior to reloading the new unit.
Looking forward to our new digs. We'll be rolling again soon!

My camping friend/neighbour found a 2006 GMC 3500 diesel dually on Craiglist for $6000 less than blue-book. It was in Phoenix. He and I flew down from Denver and drove it back over 2 days. Immaculate truck. It was fun driving it back :)

If you live in a reasonably large market, try the classified section for one of the major TV stations. Here, in Salt Lake City, the TV biggie has a great classified section, really easy to advertise, and things move fast. I was kinda, sorta looking at economy two wheel rides, like 250CC bikes, a couple of weeks ago, found 5 or 6 on the site, today all are gone and replaced by others with higher prices. Stuff on there from $1.00 to $50,000.00

Oh yeah....my wife put the kabosh on the bike idea in a hurry. I'm a septuaganarian and this is "No Country for Old Men" apparently.

It seems that Craig's list doesn't know the difference between Montgomery County Alabama, Montgomery County Texas, or Montgomery Anywhere,USA. I've been checking them out lately for another car and even though I'm in Montgomery Al., inquiry responses that I get are from all over the country but usually have Montgomery somewhere in them. And then they offer FREE shipping.... Aint nothing FREE

http://www.kijiji.com is another very popular online buy and sell site. It's actually a subsidiary of eBay, but free.

I live near Albuquerque and when posting stuff for sale in the Albuquerque Craigslist, I got calls from Georgia and Missouri and sold stuff to both. We had to negotiate shipping costs but I have had lots of luck using them.

Had to laugh at your transaction with your Jayco dealer. When I bought my fiver this past summer the local dealer and I were several thousand dollards apart. I had my homework from RV Direct. He offered the trailer for $500 above the RV Direct price. He knew I couldn't go to Iowa for $500, and I knew I couldn't drive there for $500. Deal Done!

Craigslist is the pimp list. They settled with CT and IL AG's office for site content, then continued to accept erotic ads. Now they are "mystified" by Cook County Sheriff Dart's Federal lawsuit. Perhaps the editors should review their own policies before accepting any more ads. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id ... _article=1

As a regular troller of craigslist looking for great buys, I can tell you - if you want to sell stuff and price it right, craigslist is great! You can always arrange to meet in a populated place to keep it safe :)
