Flagstaff/Forest River extended warranty

Unread postby catmom on Wed Apr 23, 2008 4:54 pm

I seem to remember seeing something about an extended warranty that Forest River offers. We're picking up our Flagstaff tomorrow, and the dealer wants to sell us a third-party 7-year warranty, but it's very expensive and we're not sure we want to bite. IIRC, the Forest River 1-year extension is about $100-150?

Anyone know about this, and how to get one?

3rd party Extended Warrenty seldom work out. They never seem to cover what you expect them to. If the warranty is more than the cost of a new frig, I would question the value.

The 1 year extension for $150.00 seems cheap for an extra year peace of mind.

Your dealer SHOULD provide you with a form to fill out when you pick up the new trailer. It's POSSIBLE that since he's trying to sell you a private insurance policy he may not make mention of it but I'd make sure to ASK him to show you the form.I believe that you have 10 days to fill it out or call it in ( I believe we filled ours out on line). It's pretty good insurance to have. We never used our warranty until we'd had the trailer for a year and a half then we had a toilet water inlet valve replaced under warranty. We were told that the repair WOULD have cost us around $50.00 and we paid $100.00 for the 2nd year or warranty so we haven't come out ahead and most likely won't since our 2nd year is up in about a month but I'd STILL buy it again just for the peace of mind.

We did get the form from the dealer on the day we picked up the trailer (we asked for it) and after some emails and calls to Forest River, which were returned come Monday, we have mailed in the ext. warranty form. It now costs $150, but peace of mind is worth it, IMO. Also mailed in the (original) warranty cards today.
