Welcome from Metro Detroit

Unread postby thebadliz on Tue Mar 10, 2009 9:15 am

So following directions, I am posting an "I am new here" post - :o What could I possibly write that would be interesting??

I have been camping my whole life. My first camping trip was when I was just 2 months old - Memorial weekend (never mind what year!) and I am still hooked to it. I started with in a one-wheeled camper trailer with the parents (you know, like the tent on a box thing?), graduated to a pop-up with them, back to a tent when I was camping as a young adult and early marriage, back to a pop-up (that my husband hated), now in a 21 foot Ameri-lite travel trailer.

Hubby and I try to get out once a month for 3-4 days from late April through October - we have found a small campground about 30 minutes from home that we like for our quick getaways. Fortunately in Michigan - we have a wide variety of state parks, state forest and national forest campgrounds!

Take care!

I've got to agree with you on the MI State parks. I live near one of those 30 minutes from the city. We are also going to be the campground hosts at Tawas Point State Park for the month of August this year. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Welcome to the forum and by the way, nice introduction. Two months old is pretty young to be camping but it must have been a pretty nice experience since you still enjoy it. As for tent camping, there was a time in my life that I thought "why would ANYBODY want to go camping in ONE OF THOSE things" referring to an RV. OF course I also once said "why would anyone want power windows when they're so easy to crank" and "Why would ANYONE ever purchase Xerox stock when carbon paper is so cheep". Once again, welcome aboard and I look forward to hearing about your experiences. Skip
