New member from Montana

Unread postby mtlogger44 on Sun Feb 08, 2009 1:28 pm

Hi all - joined up this morning - tired of the Affinity bs. Grew up in Indiana, drove steel mill trucks and military vehicles for 12 years. Moved west with the oil boom - mid 80's to Wyoming, Montana. Still drive heavy log trucks when necessary to eat, otherwise bought a coffee finca in Guatemala and am in process of moving there.

Welcome aboard - jump in and have fun. Most of us are here because of the Affinity BS!

What's a cofffee finca?

Finca in Spanish means farm. So it's a coffee farm, for which we have one crop a year at mid-range elev 3500ft. All the mountains surrounding us including the four volcanoes are over 11,000ft. Of those one is active every day - Agua shoots steam. Fuego blows rock and ash once in a while. And the other two have vents and blow steam once every few years.

We get one crop a year, and want to make some money this time around. I inherited a Unimog 1750 camper, which is great for these narrow roads. We've been thru most of Central America with it - at least as far as the CZ. It doesn't swim, so we had to turn around.
