Can anyone explain this one?

Unread postby skipnchar on Mon Apr 13, 2009 10:26 pm

Maybe someone can explain how this happened or even WHAT happened. Last night I was just playing around checking out some of our favorite camping areas in the Saw Tooth Mountains of Idaho on "Google Maps". I keep my Tomtom in a cuby hole of my desk right next to my computer and it had been a week since I last used it so I KNOW it was turned off. I heard a female voice say "After 100 yards turn right". I KNEW the voice but it really startled me. I picked up the satnav and found it was active and showing me a right turn. Can't think of any way it could interact with Google even though I know it gets it's maps from them but the battery in my unit only lasts about 4 hours without auxiliary power so it couldn't have been left on for a week. For what it's worth I didn't "turn right" but it DID turn it right off
Any explanations? Could it be electronics are plotting a take over? :o

I am amazed. Those magic lessons I have been taking actually work! You noted, of course, that my first trick was to move you from a gas F150 to a diesel F250!

I have the same problem, with ours (We call it Sally because it is a nag) When the battery gets low when stored it will automaticly turn its self on. On Sally I hve to charge it to make it stay off for a while. It will take three to four weeks for it to discharge to this point

Hummm...the low battery thing makes the most sense (other than Limeys magic tricks anyway). I don't think I could have jostled the switch because it's a press and h old about 3 seconds type of thing.

I suppose it COULD be just getting even with me though because is have been purposely not following it's directions just to see how it reacts and to help to learn how to use it. I bet that gal is thinking "This guy is the dumbest guy I ever tried to help" but she doesn't let her animosity show in her voice. gotta admire her for that

That is why we call ours Sally she is a nag. When you get off to fuel up she has nervous break down. Has this thing about U turns. I keep ours in the truck, and when the battery gets low you hear her voice from the consul. I just hope it doe not go off in one of our road blocks

Electronics can do really weird and strange things sometimes.

I was driving home from home one day and my cell phone rang. It was my wife calling. I answered it, no one was speaking on the other end.
The strange part, her cell phone was on the seat next to me and I was alone in the car. I picked up her phone and it did make the call as the call was still open.
So in short, one cell phone called another cell phone all on it's own. I swear...true story.
