Apparent new format for RV.NET?

Unread postby skipnchar on Tue Jul 29, 2008 8:25 pm

The OTHER forum seems to have a new look tonight only now NOTHING works on the forum. No problem navigating around and not a single time out except none of the post buttons, reply buttons do anything at all. Much better that way LOL

That thing has been a mess for a long time now and only gets worse each time they try to do some upgrade. Of course if you dare speak out about the total incompetence over there you are quickly deleted, shouted down, and threatened with expulsion.

Yes the format of the forum has been switching back and forth for the past several days. Sometimes I can get my posts to work, sometimes not. It is highly annoying to say the least!

I just now tried the http://www.trailerlife.com portal, and it is working much better at this time. the RV.net portal is the one giving them troubles right now.

I thought it was me. It has been so frustrating over there I have just about given up. I switched to the Woodalls portal and that works better, however.

As long as we're venting about the place I have to say that every time I make an informative thread it gets torn to shreds but the statisticians on the site. I'm really tired of it

Looks like teh same old thing to me - perhaps they ditched the beta software for the time being.

Untill they give up that massively outdated software architecture they're using (which simply didn't scale well to the size they needed due to it's age) they'll always have problems there.

Unfortunately they've waited too long and now all the modern forum software doesn't have the necessary tools to import all the posts from the current forum. They'd gain reliability by moving to a new forum software, but loose everything in the process.

Did a little more checking and apparently one of their servers must have booted in VGA mode or something LIKE that giving them a new look and many features not working. I changed portals and everything was back to 'normal' (or whatever serves for normal) :) After I posted here I found a post by Pawit explaining the problem over there. My bad / Skip

The OTHER forum must be really screwed up today. I can't get any of the portals to open up with any degree of consistency. Sometimes they will open, and then when I want to read a thread I get the error message. Lots of problems over there today.

Yeah, I've got 2 private messages over there that I can't access, much less answer. Frustrating.

I was just about to open a topic about this, but see you beat me to it - It has been screwed up all day - the usual trick of a different portal doesn't work either.

Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.....

If you are having troubles over there why dont you try being creative and typing a little bit more here possibly it will spread and give this forum a fresh breath.

I don't think anyone was offended cwit. I must confess to visiting the other forum quite often as well. I try to invite others here when I can to hopefully increase membership and stimulate more conversation. I have noticed that we were building members quite rapidly, then over the last couple of months the new member numbers have slowed considerably.

So I encourage all members to invite their friends from other sites to join us here!

i was not offended just looking to strike up some new threads I would be foolish to think this is the only forum I go to crossroads website almost daily and like it very much.
