What you get a 4 day weekend..???

Unread postby jemek on Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:08 pm

So my dear husband informs me, that he was comp time and decided to take a 4 day weekend. He wants to go camping...great honey...after all..I the wife get to find and call..sure I will find a place that will accomadate a 31 ft travel trailer, medical needs that require electrical hook ups...for this weekend...it is the 4th of July weekend.

So far...I found the KOA about 20 miles from here has sites (at least according to the internet) I do not consider this KOA so close to home as camping.

It may not be a great campground and it may only be 20 miles from home - but it IS camping! Have a great time. Sometimes it's good just to get a change of scenery. :)

LOL well I guess it's all a matter of preferences but I wouldn't call ANY KOA camping but it's better than being at the office. On the 4th of July weekend I guess you have to take your pleasure where you can find it. Luckily, if I ever get the urge to camp on a big holiday weekend I can almost always find a non electric site somewhere pretty close to home and it gives me a chance to five the generator some work. Enjoy the time off.

It was a little tongue in cheek! I have never stayed in a KOA and have happily driven past dozens!

Be happy you can find a campsite on a holiday weekend 4 days prior!
As for KOA's, I know they are almost always nice...been in one in DC that sucked...found out later it was for sale. Stayed in one in Mich. where the owners wife was a b***h. Been in more than several non-KOA's that sometimes border on 'scary' and I grew up in a big city, teach High School, and don't scare easily. KOA's (Jellystone also) are generally at least pretty nice, I know the price is higher, but when on the road I don't always have the time to "shop" or research on the web where to stay the night.

I should have explained why I don't like to camp so close to home...because we or should I say DH...will still answer the work phone, still run home and do stuff, or still do stuff..like go to the gym, run the kids to friends, etc...it is like maintaining two households. We have a resort membership that was given to us, we just paid the transfer fees...that one is 25 miles from the house...but 1 mile from hubby's work. It is nice to go to in the early spring and early fall. But hubby will work still and the kids still go to their activities. I wanted to far enough away...that we can't do that stuff.

I guess..we got lucky...I really wanted to go the Cascades...Leavenworth, WA area. So I figured..I would just get on the phone and call a few places and check for cancellations..or even get on cancellation lists.

Well we found a cancellation and now have a site at Blu-Shastin RV Park near Leavenworth, WA.
