Not enough time

Unread postby mikhen on Tue May 13, 2008 9:32 pm

It seems the home improvement projects are cutting into my camping time. We are taking a break from the home stuff the next 2 weekends and doing some much needed camping. While I was on the DL, the DW started 2 major projects at home that needed to be done. Now that I'm at 90%, I can help out. A MAJOR project we are doing right now is large pond that we will all enjoy. Does anyone else juggle all there time between camping and improving the home surroundings?

Not only juggling between camping and house projects, but also work (DH is retired but I still work PT from home), just keeping house, etc. We have only a few days to get ready for our maiden voyage, and I now have 4 clients I have to call tomorrow!!! (Clients have radar - they KNOW when you're going to be away and that's when they call needing something, I swear!)

Own a house and you are bound to be tied up with all kinds of stuff cutting into camping time...then work...then...then...
It's always something.

We have to schedule our summer trips in Feb or March so that all the other stuff doesn't cut into the camping time.

I put a stream and koi/goldfish pond in about 6 or 7 years ago. We enjoy the sounds of the stream that connects the ponds together and runs along the deck. My middle daughter (5 years old) checks every day to see if the froggie is on the rocks that surround the pond. We have 2 koi and about 10 or so goldfish. Best thing is, you can go on vacation and not have to have someone take care of them.

About 16' by 12' plus a waterfall and stream. It's not real big but we are doing all the work ourselves. We had to rove alot of plants and a huge butterfly bush. Plus we added a fence and are doing a new walkway in front of the house. I'll post some pics when (IF) it ever gets done.

I used to try and juggle the 2, but camping trumps all now. :D

I was just asking myself today, should I paint the trim on the house this weekend or go to the lake? I'll be at the Lake.

Several years ago we sold the house, with just the two of us we did not need a 3500 square foot house. We purchased a condo, No yard work, no out side painting or maint. Just indoor projects. Thes are done during the winter. But we still manage one to two trips a month

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel, and just got some minor storm damage to our house. We were offered a chance to go to the lake this past weekend if we carried our camper friends would pay for the site. But with the holiday coming up and a camping trip planned then and all the work involved at home all we could do was pass and keep tearing out the counter tops. Kitchen should be almost finished by the time we leave for the holiday weekend, storm damage will take a little longer but we don't have any roof leaks so we're ok there.
