Other forum doesn't like competition

I was asked to remove my link to this forum from the "unreliable forum" and I know Skip was given the same instructions. Seems so petty but par for the course over there.

Hay Gypsy they were just lucky we found a time the forum was up long enough to make the requested changes. I've seen times it took two days to get ON over there  I took the link OUT of the sig line but I'll still be using it in posts and I've already added it to my profile as my "web page".

If they would put half as much effort into fixing that rust bucket as they do harassing and threatening posters there would never have been any competition

They haven't noticed yet that it's in my signature and as my web site - I wonder how long before they notice!

I have been a good boy over there for some time and perhaps I have not come to their attention recently!

Its sad that they have such a problem with people enjoying more then 1 forum. They will lose more then gain with that attitude.

A few weeks ago there was an ad on the bottom of the other forum for a different RV site that had it's own forum. I thought that was strange.

I've got nothing against anyone advertising competition to our forum in your links here. I'm not anti-competition, and I believe that the members will come and go to where they feel welcome and comfortable - if that's us, great - if it's elsewhere, well, we tried. :)

I was asked to remove my link to rv-forums.org over there as well. I took issue with the request since my link was within the rules (they only prohibit links to commercial websites, this of which is not) but looking at the situation from both sides of the glass, I complied regardless. It is still listed in my "website" link, and I put the following in my signature instead:

Checkout my blogs, adventures, and more here!

Which links to this "links" page instead, which lists some of my sites, this one included.

The rules are the rules over there and I'd ask that nobody risk their account by breaking them simply for our benefit, but it does seem like they have their priorities a little skewed at times - they apparently want to vehemently prevent others from going to other forums, yet seem unwilling to fix their own.

Well said PP, priorities are all messed up on that one. I am sure no one here is really concerned about being banned over there. I know I have been threatened many times over silly things. There are some mods over there who think very highly of themselves and think they are the only game going but this forum has come along at the right time for those of us not looking for a fight all the time.

Over there, they are Corporate thinking folks. They are Affinity Group.

Look at who they are and what they own, and you'll realize why they don't want you to lead members away from their forums.

All I can say is whoever developed this forum made a wise decision using PHP instead of Cold Fusion. Being the owner of a couple of forums myself, I notice these things. PHP will stay up a lot longer with fewer hassles. BTW.... The "other" forum referred to in this topic is Cold Fusion based. No wonder they can't keep it up.

If the flaming, trolling and other BS can be eliminated, there is nothing left but a pleasent experience for everyone!!!

Kudos to the developer... Very Nice Job. I think I'll like it here.

Yeah, they've been slow again the last couple days. Not too bad tonight. (I spend my time - WAY too much of it! - on 3 RV-related forums; all different, all with good points. I still do learn a lot over there, and can help out all the newbies heading to Yellowstone w/o a clue how tough it is to tow over Beartooth. ) Nice supportive bunch of folks here. I'm glad for my invite too! :)
