Getting expensive

Unread postby mikhen on Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:01 pm

We live in Pennsylvania. Eastern Pa, to be exact. It's always been hard to get sites at many campgrounds here. Now, the price of a night is averaging at $60. And most of those places are not resort type campgrounds. Those are closer to $70. We did get a fantastic buy one get one cyber monday deal for Masseys Landing in Delaware, but that was the only deal we got this year. Not real happy paying $66 a night at 1 of my favorites that we only paid $52 at 2 years ago. Anyone else frustrated with this?

We have the same situation up here in Canada and especially in British Columbia where we are from.
We are losing RV Parks to development and now the federal government of Canada is changing the tax rate for land use and that will cause tremendous pressure on campgrounds and cause (some feel 50% of private campgrounds ) to close due to high taxes.
So the only course the park has is to pass the cost on to the RV'ing and camping folk that stay in the parks.

Yes, we are all frustrated with the ridiculous inflation (even though we are all told we have very little inflation) reality proves otherwise.

We have a petition going in Canada to reduce taxes for small campgrounds to keep them in business.

Supply and demand drive a lot of the pricing as well.
