gradually getting ready

Unread postby catmom on Wed May 07, 2008 6:15 pm

With plans to take our maiden voyage before Memorial Day, we're still in the process of loading the new trailer (remember we're weighing everything before it goes in!), and checking out everything we can. We dewinterized a couple days ago :) and checked the gas appliances - only to find that one LP tank, or its connection, wasn't functioning. Took the tank back to the dealer today and swapped it out for one that we know is full (we suspect the original was mostly empty) and after we took the swap back home and hooked it up, it works! :) :) Checked tire inflation, got the new set of stick-on-states ;) and we're almost good to go!

All you need now is your VISA card. I really get a thrill getting ready for a trip.

One thing to remember about those LP tanks is the safety feature that shuts them down if they sense a leak. If you turn on the valve any way EXCEPT VERY slowly it'll trip the safety and stop the flow. Hope your trip goes well / Skip

Thanks, Skip! I didn't know that either. The tank we traded in seemed a lot lighter to DH than the one we got, so it's still likely it wasn't full. In any case, it's functioning now!

Have fun and give us a report when you get back. The shutdown feature on LP tanks is relatively new I believe.
