What do you all think of a great big get together. If we start planing now maybe this fall we could all meet at a park or somewhere cool and meet the wonderfull people on here. Have a bar-b-que, drink some cold ones and look at everybodys rigs, big and small, new and old. I have no idea where everybody is located, Im in kansas, kind of the middle of the country, but i would be willing to drive. :D

Thats a good looking park. With 125 sites i hope we all fit. I wonder if we could get a group discount.

1200 miles each way for us...probably not doable for a weekend trip. :)

Sounds like it'd be fun, but once we get back from our western trip this summer vacation time will history, so all of our trips beyond that point will be limited to weekends only unfortunately.

Feel free to plan something around everyones availability though!

I've never been to that park, but have camped all around it. It's on my to-do list. Leaves should be full follage mode at Holloween. I doubt a group discount as it's a state park. That time of year it would be easy to boondock in the group camp area. Although it could get a little chilly as it's on top of the mountian.

Could be fun! Not sure about the boondocking though - we need those hookups for the heat.

With carefull use your house batteries should run the furnace for a few days without much concern. Surely someone will have a genny that everyone could plug into for an hour or three a day, as well...

What about something a little bit more northern? It'd take me about 14 hours+ to get there.

Ditto. Something in the upstate NY area would work perfectly, or even in hour or so either direction of Toledo would be doable...but 1200 miles each way just isn't.

Then again, when distances get better for one person they often get worse for another, so it's sometimes a no-win situation. We often have this same problem agreeing on destination for fly-in's that I've attended in the past.

If gas hits $4 a gallon, it would cost me about $1K just to drive out and back. Sorry we can't afford that.

How about Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park in Va? Beautiful place. Would be real close for us. LOL

2000 miles round trip from here - at $4.50 for diesel and 12mpg that would cost me $750. Tough to swing that with the DW!

Unless you have it within 100 miles of where I am, I will have to read about it I guess. Fuel prices are taking quite a chunk out of how many miles we can tow this year. I have been called a "whiner" on other forums, but I prefer to think of myself as realistic. I think some of those on the "other" forum have more money than sense perhaps. We still will enjoy our trailer, just closer to home is all.

A get together would be fun though. :)

Here's an idea. Lets pick a weekend in October and all go camping on the same weekend. Where possible, forum people meet up in their part of the country or camp in your own driveway. Everyone take pictures and we'll post them here. Kinda like the day in the life of the forum members.

That maybe the best idea to do wintek. What about in the pics we all hold up signs with our names and where we are camped at. Halloween weekend right? Im ready to go now!!!

I think that would work better...by that point our membership will hopefully expand further and there's better chances of people being realistically able to meet up with at least one other forum member somewhere local.

We would love to do it, but it's nearly impossible. Vacation is already planned and a weekend trip is out of the question that far away. Great idea though.

But the camp driveway option may work for some, anyway. Worth a shot. Very clever idea!

I'm with ya, JP. We have the 2 rallys planned which are a few hundred miles away, but the rest of our journeys will be closer to home. They can call me a whiner all they like. A budget is a budget. We'll do the Big Meadows and Louisa St Park and something else within an hour and still have a great time. And we have some family down around Tappahanock with river front property and few close neighbors. They have the Oyster Fest down there every year. Quite a party. Yeah... thats' s the ticket.
