Any news

Just wondering if there is any news on what is going on with the form. I come here just about every day looking for some information. Maybe this will wake everyone up. Have a good one

I come here often too, and I think people must have lost interest in this forum.

I'm not one for starting all sorts of posts, I will join in if I feel I have something that is of interest though.

I come too.

Among other things I wonder what's happened to various folk.

Pat, how is Pat's health. He evaporated so fast.

& did Limey do any trips?

Nothing major this year - mostly in-state at State Parks. I had a bad fall in April and it put the damper on doing a lot. Having said that we did do one nice trip up to Ridgeway State Park near Ouray, CO. About an 800 mile round trip, but worth it for the scenery - they call it 'America's Switzerland'.

On our last trip to wind down the season, about 3 weeks ago, the water pump on the truck seized and fell off, taking the drive belt with it. Lost power steering, power brakes etc. Fortunately it happened just as I was pulling through the gate at home. 5 mins before that I was doing 65 on the freeway - Lord knows what would have happened if it had failed then!

I do believe everyone is right. People are losing interest is very unfortunate as I mentioned before enjoyed talking with you people
Limey I know how you feel about the water pump. I just replaced mine.
I will keep checking back see if anything new is happening.

As for the technical side of the forum, it has been moved to a much larger and stable site with 5 datacenters and faster speeds. Right now I know Private Pilot wants to host it but I'm at a period right now that I am swamped but at least we have stabality and speed while I get the time to work with Private Pilot to make the move. Last try the database was corrupted so the move had stalled.

I think there are enough RV'ers that would support a Canadian forum if we all got together it would fly, but I have made an offer and so have others, but the silence is deafening.

I see thousands of people on RV Net, Woodalls, Good Sam and many others that are just one forum with different names.

I really think a Canadian forum is needed and this one has an excellent base and should continue.

Over @ rv.net, I post more on the section, Rving in CA and AK than anywhere else. It's the only place where people really ask travel questions.

I started by figuring that I was then living on Newfoundland and no one else living there was answering questions. What I didn't know I hunted up. & doing travel questions became my thing.

FWIW my next big trip is cross country. I can't understand why anyone would go down into The States when doing a cross-Canada trip. Just think of all of those dinosaur, RCMP, Riel, Icelander historical places, not mention North Shore of Lake Superior.

So, anyone here who has visited those places?

You know Little Kopit the wife and I and the people that we travel with always say if Canada had a warm place in the winner. We would never leave it. So that's why we go south in the winter. We have been to the East Coast never have been to Newfoundland but hopefully someday we will and we also planning on going out West. Some year, but everything takes time and money so I'm still looking forward to keep in this Canadian RV form

If I ever go south, it will be October or November, not December through March. Let it snow, let it snow let it snow. Snow is dry. Rain, drizzle, fog, just above freezing is a lot colder in it's dampness than -20'C with sun.

& really, I'm more interested in seeing parts of Canada that I've missed.

We did a cross Canada trip and it was great.
Highly recommend it to any RV'er.
There is so much to see and do on the way across.

My better half is into gift shops and there are thousands across the country and we have seen a lot of them.

Thank you, & east of those routes, what way did you go from west to east, esp through Ontario and Quebec, & what way did you go from east to west.

& I might as well ask what appealed to you the most.

Ontario we took Hwy 1 going from west to east, until we hit Sault St Marie. There we had the fun time of hitting black fly season. We stayed at the KOA which was outside of town and the black flies really liked the tourists.
So from Sault St Marie we headed south into Michigan and kept going south and went back into Ontario at Sarnia.

Then on the way back (as black flies were done we took Hwy 1 around the north side of the lakes.

Quebec we used Hwy 1 both ways.

Really like old Quebec city and we spent a couple days touring that.

Well, Google Maps is still calling the highway into Sault Ste. Marie, #17. and it stays #17 to Ottawa.

South Shore of the St. Lawrence is still being called #20 on Google Maps.

They've had those #s since the 70s.

I was kind of hoping you'd gone north in ON and QC. That's the part I don't know and have heard interesting things concerning.

Thanks again.

I gotta tell ya, over on my local forum, it's also very dead right now. rv.net/woodalls/etc has too many negative posts. I hardly ever check that out anymore. When I do, it's usually the RV Parks, campgrounds, etc section. I do that just looking to see if there are any posts about Pennsylvania camping, then I reply with a link to my local site. So far, I haven't been flagged on rv.net.

So it's not just here where it's quiet. I guess if you don't have ten's of thousands of members, it might be quiet for a while.

Hope everyone is doing well and has a great Holiday season.

Glad to hear from you Mikhen.

LIke PA meself. Grad of LJHS, if you can figure that out. It's on the Susquehanna. But still have lots and lots of my parental heritage to discover, which is why I'm thinking westly Canuckish. Still I might meander down that way some day and see what Montour Mtn. looks like (did not check sp.)

Well, this time of year. A lot of people are on the highway heading south, so some of the forms will be quiet until they arrive and then we will hear their stories. But let's try and get this one working the way it should. Lots of talk

Sure do: http://www.star-clippers.com

This was our 2nd cruise on the Royal Clipper. On this trip we met up with her sister ship 'Star Clipper' (a little smaller), and we sailed alongside each other for about an hour - got as close as only 20 meters apart. It was fantastic.

These are pictures of the Star Clipper taken from the Royal Clipper:
