Need help with Fiberglass Repair...

Unread postby bob7794 on Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:08 pm

A recent wind storm blew part of a tree on the back of my TT in my yard. Fortunately, the only damage I can find is a chip in the fiberglass. Everything I read about repairing fiberglass says to repair it from the back side. It is only about 1 1/2" wide and 3/4" high. It is in the rear just above the center marker light. It does have some spider webbing on either side. I am wondering if this is the way it has to be done correctly or can something this small be done safely from the outside. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 You may want to consider taking it to somebody who deals with fiberglass myself. That's what I would do

It's not hard to repair a small area, as long as you can get a repair kit. I used a fiberglass tub repair kit from Lowes. Clean the area well, and repair as directed. Repaint to match, if needed. Take your time and it will be fine.

A "good" automotive store will help you select the correct repair kit the big box parts stores might not have staff able to assist you. Im sure there is a wealth of info online
Have a good one
