Father's Day Weekend

Unread postby pwall on Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:55 pm

Not that I need an excuse to head out to the park for a weekend, but it's Father's Day weekend coming up.
Anyone hitching up and heading out ? I certainly will be! :)

Not us!! Wife works this weekend. We were out last weekend, and have every other weekend until Labor Day booked.

We had planned on heading down to our local provincial park, about 30 miles away, but the weather doesn't look like its going to co-operate. June is typically monsoon season in southern Alberta and this month is certainly no exception. Looks like we're staying at home.

Couldn't camp where I wanted to and ended up moving else wherw and found a better place closer to home and quiet... But then got up this morning and the rain clouds started coming... Listening to the Weather radio it was going to be long term so we packed for home...

Well it was my first dry camp over night experience... ;)

Just got back from S Dakota - only to find that we have no water in the house.

Either well pump has died or well has gone dry at our level. Either way, this is going to be expensive. Waiting for the well folks to come and take a look.....

Good luck LIMEY. I used to work with the woman whose husband did that kind of work. And yes it can be expensive, but I wish you the best of luck

Been there.

Ok, whatever is open, get containers. It is Sunday, sollutions many not happen today.

Do you have any gallon vinegar jugs. Great stuff for this. Find a sink and fill containers with potable ie drinking water. At least 10 gallons.

Remember water used to wash dishes can be recycled for the toilet. 3 gallon bucket will flush a toilet.

Have a good Father's Day.

Find the nearest hose and fill your fresh water tank. Extend your camping trip to some back yard camping.

If you have and above ground pump, try flipping the lever on the side or the pressure switch.

We have great neighbors who ran hose from their standpipe to ours and allows the house to have water. First thing we did was fill freshwater tank in 5er, just in case

The 'Well Guy' came last night and by playing around managed to get us back on line.. pressure low, but we are self sufficient for now. Turns out the aquifer we are on is shallow and is running out.

Add to that the fact that the pump is suspect - been down there more than 16 years that we know of! - we are really looking at drilling a new well to a deeper aquifer.

Looks to be about $20K. - waiting on quote. At least if we get it done, I'll have peace of mind about the water supply for the future - been a worry of mine for some time now!

Now to find $20k!

Using up aquifers. Poor planet.

OH boy. I think I live in the better country.

As long as we can keep our water.

My well is down 150'. Had to have pump replaced since I moved in. New one is an update in technology. Thus, I say check with plumber. Better than $19 K less than what you're talking about.

Hope it works out well for you Limey!

On the note about Father's Day weekend in the park, couldn't have been better. I lit a fire on Friday night, poked it all weekend! Ah...true relaxation! :)
