Dometic fridge dead

Unread postby pwall on Mon Sep 14, 2009 2:22 pm

Hi.

The Dometic gridge in my TT is now dead.....the 'check' light does not come on though.
Either electric or gas, doesn't matter, fridge will not cool.
And if it is on gas, it does light.
Fuses look good.

Any thoughts ?
Patrick.

Have you checked the 12 volt side. If all else fails find your local camper handy man and ask him to check it out. We have a man who calls himself GUS and when it comes to refers or furnaces he is great.

Check for any smells of ammonia or any yellowish residue. If either is present, it's likely time for a new fridge.

No smell coming from the fridge, and no yellow residew.
We were camping the long weekend and it was working just fine. Didn't work when we arrived back home. :(

Due to lack of time and since I was done camping for the season, I put the trailer in storage.
I'll have to have a look at the fridge in the spring.

Hey Patrick,

Sounds like either your circuit board is cracked or you have a loose line going to the circuit board. Happened to me in my old class C just before we sold it and bought our new Denali 5th. Rather easy to trace, just need a circuit tester and some of that extra time you have on your hands.

Hey Patrick, There was a recall on those Dometic refrigerators last spring. I didn't pay any attention because ours was a 2009 model. Could it have been your model or year. Check out Dometic for details.
Good luck and hope it's nothing major.

Actually, it was serviced two years ago for that recall. The unit will be going into the same shop that serviced it last time so I'll be sure to mention that they've looked at it before.
