First 'real' trip with the truck

Unread postby pwall on Tue Sep 08, 2009 9:48 am

Hi.

I got my current truck, '07 Silverado 3500HD, in June of last year. And although I have camped many times with the truck, it's usually just been within an hour or so from home.
This weekend we went to Waterloo NY for shopping at the outlet stores (back to school shopping). 4.5 hrs from home.
So frist 'real' trip with the truck towing.
Dang....do I love diesel. My previous truck, '02 YukonXL with a 5.3l, towed the trailer ok, as long as I kept it at 55mph. The Silverado, set the cruise at 65mph (which is fast enough for me....perhaps a little too quick but was wanting to set at the speed limit), the truck towed beyond my expectations. At times, I forgot I was towing anything. :)
Looking forward to upgrading to a fifth wheel sometime in the near future.
Patrick.

I didn't see your trailer size in your post. What weight were you towing at?

Not much really....only 7000lbs. Less than half of the Silverado's tow rating.
But compared to what I was used to with the 5.3l YukonXL, a world of difference.
