Congrats, Zinger! Work must be good these days! Did you keep the F150 as a "around town" vehicle to keep the miles off of the TV?

No the 150 wasnt paid off but the trade I got at action was unbelievable just curious what the mpg will be the 150 had 4.6 underpowered at best and the 2500 has the 6.0 with allison 6 spd auto lots of power.

I tow about 7500lbs with the truck in my signature. There is a little over 6000 miles on it now. With all lubricants change to Amsoil I am getting around 10 to 11 towing in the mountains in New Mexico and Arizona. Otherwise my general driving, not a lot of freeway but mostly country driving I average about 17 or a little more.

I am very pleased with the truck, had to modify the the back seat for the dogs.

Zinger, You will have considerable more power but if you have the 6.0 gasser as I do you won't be too proud of the mileage. I get around 9 with my 6.0 and I don't have the 6 sp transmission. I don't believe that the transmission is an Allison but there have been good reports on it anyway.

I towed 8500# with a similar truck (It was the extended cab) The power was more than adequate, the transmission worked like a dream and the integrated brake control worked very smoothly and dialed in to right where I wanted it. Since I wasn't paying for the fuel, I didn't track the mileage too closely and I don't which gears it had in it.

That's horrible mileage. My son's Dakota with the 4.7 engine is getting 21 on the highway and 16-18 around town. Towing the Airstream he's doing 12.

Yes, less ethanol gives better mileage. My son notes that when he blends 50/50 ethanol mileage drops a couple, but when he runs E85 it drops substanially to 14 highway. It's good to know that when he needs to use the less expensive E85, he can!
