Unread postby Terry on Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:01 am

I have finally found a reg maint item that wallyworld don't have. A air filter for my F150. they have the big round one for the other styles. But not the flat drawer one for mine. what's up with that?

you said it all (walmart) they only stock popular things not what you want I would order a K&N and a recharge kit the last one you will buy! I got 1 mpg better with my 150.
Have a good one

Lots of people have reported they like the K&N filters. I purchased one and installed it but after 10,000 miles when I'd normally replace the filter I found practically no dirt had been trapped and the regular filters had always looked pretty dirty after than many miles. It made me nervous enough that I replaced it with a regular Motocraft filter. Seems to me that the only way it can let more air in is to also let more dirt in. Since the computer is programed to measure the air flow and adjust the engine accordingly I'm not sure how it changes performance any but lots of folks report that it does.

Uh, actually guys, a couple of years ago when I had my '05 F150 5.4L, I purchased a K&N air filter at a Walmart in The Woodlands, TX. The one here at home does not carry K&N, but IMSM, they did have the right Fram.

Time for me to come back. I had a K&N for the 5.4, 02 Expe. Did absolutely nothing for anything. Just cost me $50.00 +. All it did was keep me from buying more reg air filters. Didn't really come out on that. So I don't see one in the future of the 150. Also had a throttle body spacer. Did help with MPG towing, but less than 1 mpg gain. These things are not really effective alone. You must also so go with an opened exhaust to get the full benefit. As I'm not ready to spend that kind of money to replace a perfectly good exhaust system. I just want a stock air filter for the truck. Wally world don't have it. But Advance Auto does, as does the local Ford store.

I have done the K+N and paper filters. I like the paper better. It is hit and miss getting the filter you need at Wally's Chinese Market
