12V and 120V System Q&A

Converter issue

Unread postby Donmax on Thu Oct 12, 2017 4:25 am

Hi, I am a new member and thought I would question the experienced rivers.
When I plug in y rv on 110 volts, it trips the gfi plug. Does this mean my converter is fried?
Thanks,

Donmax

Where is the GFI plug?
Mine is in the bathroom and it is connected to a plug in the kitchen.
Are you using a surge protector on your 110 that is tripping?
Is it tripping at the post?
Is it tripping on your electrical panel?

The actual 110 volt power that feeds the trailer for power is the one that trips out. It is like something is shorting out either in the trailer power cable or the converter itself to trip out the circuit that is feeding it. I tried using my residence power and the same thing happens...the breaker in the house trips as soon as I plug my power cable to to the house power.
