Generator/Invertor and AC Issues

Unread postby afcozart on Wed Jul 27, 2016 9:33 pm

Hello, I am a new fifth wheel owner and I desperately need help getting the generator/invertor to start the air conditioner. Please keep in mind that I know nothing about travel trailers and even less about electric circuitry. I purchased a 3500 watt generator/invertor yesterday but I cannot get it to start the 13500 btu / 115 volt air conditioner. When I turn the AC unit on the generator will continue to run but the overload light goes on and the generator stops delivering power out to the unit. I have tried turning everything off before starting it and I have even flipped all the breakers to off except for the one for the AC. I even disconnected the battery in case the generator/inverter was trying to recharge it. Nothing is working and I feel like I am melting here in the Southern California heat. I have included pictures of the labels on the AC unit and the power box inside the trailer. Will someone please help me to understand how all this works, or better yet just help me get the AC turned on.
Thank You,,
Ann
