Have your photo featured on our homepage.

Unread postby PrivatePilot on Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:51 pm

See the photo at the top of each forum page? Every time you move to a new forum page, or refresh your browser, it changes automagically.

Currently we are using a few stock pictures, but we are looking to greatly expand this, and we want YOUR pictures! To submit a photo for placement, simply post it here, and mention in your post if you are willing to have your photo featured in our main page. No guarantees, but if your photo catches our eye, you may soon see it featured.

What are we looking for? Scenic or visually appealing shots of an RV'ing nature - your trailer on your favorite campsite, your family around the campfire or on a hike, or a photo snapped on the road that speaks of the RV'ing adventure and lifestyle. We'd like to see an RV visible in every picture to keep with the theme of the forum.

Post your pics!

Thanks

I refer to this as my high country slice of heaven. It is in the high desert of central Oregon and I would be happy to share this with the RVing world.

If you can send me a fullsize copy of the second photo (the campground overview) I'll use it.

That's a beautiful looking place. Kind of reminds me of a BLM campground we stayed at on the Malhaur River a couple of years ago. It was just an overnight stopover for us but I could have spent more time there pretty easily.

Thank you. Actually, the Malheur River is about 150+ miles further east from this location. That's Mt. Jefferson you see, and that is actually my own personal "campground." I bought the property about 30 years ago and have never regretted it. I have friends join me there with their RVs for some great times.

Here is a photo I took last time I was over on the Malheur. Living in Oregon is truly wonderful.

Beautiful spot you have there. I'm not sure just where Deadwood is but I think I want to camp there. We spend a lot of time along the Salmon River and the Payette river between Stanley and Lowman. Is that anywhere close to Deadwood?

It is about 15 miles due north of Lowman. Road 555 but it is a Jeep trail. Best way in is through Cascade out past Warm Lake and hang a right at Johnson Creek. Still not a great road. The last 20 miles takes me 2 hours. Parts are steep, narrow and twisty. If you meet another rig someone has to back up. If you're both pulling trailers one of you has to be really good at backing up. If you like peace, quiet and solitude it is worth the trip. This particular trip I spent a week not seeing another soul the first 4 days. And this moose strolled by for brunch every morning.

Awesome but it sounds like it would be a bit of a stretch to think I could get my rig up there. We used to have SEVERAL places we really liked along the Salmon, when we had our smaller trailer but t hough we managed to get IN there with the Rockwood, couldn't find a way to maneuver it into the camping SITE itself without blocking the road in and out. Sometimes you just can't put 5 gallons of stuff in a 3 gallon bucket :D

PrivatePilot,
I hate to say , we traded the Award for a 2008 Skyline at the Knoxville TN RV show in February.

The DW and I both loved the Award, it's a 1995 model 727 in very good condition. It's a great camper for a couple, however, our grandchildren started camping with us some and the Award was just to small . We traded for a bunkhouse unit to fit our needs better. The dealer has already sold the Award.
Enjoy your Award , they are very good TT's.

Took tons of pictures this year, but not many with RV's in them. You are welcome to use any of these if you like.
When ever I get a chance to organize and upload about 700 pics I will post a link so all can see (or ignore) if they want.

These pictures are from Prairie Creek Camp ground In Benton Alabama. It is a COE camp ground on the banks of the Alabama River and Prairie Creek. It's only about 30 minutes from home and we go there often. Almost all of the sites are water front but this is the best one.

I didn't even recognize Prairie Creek but we've camped there before. It is one of the largest campground I've seen and it was unbelievable just how many "on the water" sites they had. We were sitting by our fire ring watching a block of geese in the water arguing with another flock who felt our site was theirs. They were taking turns charging at each other and raising a ruckus. We've always said we wanted to go back and camp there for a week or so (we were just there for an overnight and ended up spending a second night). Thanks for the pictures.

Love the old pictures, especially cool seeing the "28 years apart" differences.

I must dig up all the old photos my parents have of camping back in the 50's and 60's - there's some real classic trailers to see in those old pics.

Good observation. It was ALWAYS a good idea to run a safety wire, in case they came open in those days.

Bama, I wanted to use this on the photo rotation but I couldn't find a large enough version for me to crop down - can you direct me to a link to the original (high resolution) version please?

And FWIW, I've added a few of the pics from the last few posts into the rotation.

Here is a picture of our first camper. It was a 2001 Keystone Cabana 2100 In Excellent condition. We bought it in August of 2006 and by August of 2007, we knew that we were going to have to have to get something bigger. That's when we bought our Surveyor SV291. The "Prairie Creek" pictures posted on page 3 in this topic were taken from this campsite. I sure miss that little trailer!

I bought the camper from my neighbors son after he had passed away. He was the origional owner. The son said " I think my dad bought it for around $950.00 in 1973,how about you give me half of that." I bought it for $450.00. The son said he had no use for it and I could have everything in it. Hunting gear,2 tackle boxes, coleman stove, dishes, pots n' pans chairs and much more. This was the best buy of my life.

I have just returned from a 2 week trip to my home town of Sheboygan Wisconsin and we have stayed at a variety of places during that time as you can see below. Any of these pictures could be used if wanted. The first night was at a Flying J. The next 2 nights were at a 1000 Trails campground along Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee. The next night at another Flying J. The next 4 nights at my cousin Marvins house in Sheboygan. The next 3 nights at Kohler Andrea State Park in Wisconsin. Then on the way back down, we overnighted at a Wal-mart parking lot. The next 2 nights back at the 1000 Trails campground along Natchez Trcae Parkway in Tennessee and then the last night at a Flying J. Miles traveled was 3,072. Money spent on gas was $927. Miles per gallon of gasoline was around 13.3.

We really had a good time on our trip to Wisconsin and here are a few more pictures from it. One picture shows a comparison between our trailer and a large truck and motorhome at an interstate rest stop. Another is of our truck and trailer at a rest stop along the Natchez Trace Parkway. Another is a view of our campsite at Kohler Andrea State Park and the last two pictures are on the beach at Kohler Andrea showing a sunrise over Lake Michigan.

Hey guy and ladies too. we just spent 4 great days at Whit oaks camp ground in Eufaula Alabama. It's anther the Beautiful Corp of Engineers camp grounds here in Alabama. The camp sites are large and very clean, with a good amount of space between the next site so your not on top of you neighbor. The water is so clear that at chest deep you can still see the sandy bottom! A we had a nice "brisk" wind coming off the lake the whole weekend.
Here is another picture that may be used if you need any more of them. and also a picture of the view from the site we were on.

Welcome to the forum - just out of curiosity (it's hard to see) do you have an air hitch or air pinbox on that rig?

As a class-8 driver myself I know that they can ride like tanks if you don't have class-8 type pin loads on the suspension. Your average fiver doesn't classify as having anything close to a "heavy" pin load for a class-8 tractor. :-)

I'm curious how you keep the tractor from shaking the trailer to death.

Looks great and welcome again!

Thanks to all for the positive comments.

About the hitch. The trailer has a Trail Air pin box. I have a couple of cameras on the truck so I can watch different things. One is positioned so I can keep an eye on the hitch and cargo loaded behind the cab. The trailer gently floats on the truck's commercial hitch due to the Trail Air. From what I've witnessed I see no excessive shock being sent to the trailer. The trailer also has an air bag suspension so the ride is smoothed out on the other end of the trailer as well.

Also helpful was the removal of one of the rear axles. Four less wheels on the ground means less road shock and contributes to a smoother ride. The truck does ride better with the trailer attached. I'm thinking about having a couple thousand pounds of steel plating added to the back for a better bobtail ride. Not a pressing issue because we rarely drive the truck without the trailer attached. But it's on my list.

We accidentally left a glass candle on the dining room table on a long road trip. When we arrived the candle had only moved a couple inches from its original position. Things in the fridge and pantry never seem to be disturbed. So, I'm pretty happy with the set up.

Just a reminder that having your photo featured on the top of the forum is still very much alive!
If you have a favorite picture of your RV (tent, TT, 5th, RV...etc), post it here and I will do my best to have it posted on the top of the fiorum in the rotation with the other photos.
Please keep in mind that I will need to crop you photo to 200x600! ;)

Photobucket has deleted most of the pics in the post above me>

That always puzzles me, why a person can post to PhotoBucket and they delete them.

LK - do you mean in the posts above yours in this thread? If so, I can still see them.

Limey, they are on a previous page. I probably posted when I looked it all of those bad PB links. & they occurr most often for Photobucket. i just saw over 10 of them on page 1. Maybe what I need to say is:

WOULD YOU ALL KEEP your photos to about 4 PER POST.
.............it could be that there are too many for a post for my slower connectivity and why should any one assume all have DSL or higher. That ain't fair in this world at all.

& big suggestion to admins: when there is more than one page per thread, put the numbers where we will notice them, not over in the margins, but beside the thread name. I decide to open or not to open depending upon the topic.

Thanks! The park is the Eagle River KOA in northern Wis. - also a Coast to Coast park. A little funky, but a beautiful location, and great if you enjoy fishing (small fishing lake at one end of the CG.)

Well, I haven't been here in awhile so when I see no one else either...I thought I'd put up some pics.

Can't find any with the 2007 HD 2500 and Zinger. Just the 2006 HD 3500 Duramax/Allison and the Zinger.

Longs, South Carolina and "Willow Tree Resort"

Use em' if they have any interest on the web site.

I've seen it recently....I don't know how the 'random-ness' of the pictures works, as I'm sure I see some pictures more than others.
But it's there..... ;)

Done....well at least 1 picture. The last picture is up in the rotation.
However, the previous picture is not. As I have to change the picture to match 600x200dpi, the system favours 'landscape' pictures.
If I crop the picture, it will capture the buildings in the rocks, but not great.
Would you have a wider picture I can use ?
Patrick.
