Photo in signiture block??

Unread postby Rough2000 on Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:39 pm

How do you put a photo in your signiture block. I have reduced the pic size through ezthumbs but do not know how to bring from My Documents. Thanks for any help.

Using Photos in Signatures

Unread postby skipnchar on Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:57 pm

Photo requirements

1. .JPG format or .GIF are supported.
2. Maximum size 150 pixels high X 500 pixels wide

Photos must be hosted on a web site that is always available for public viewing with no password required. You cannot post photos directly from your hard drive. There are a number of host sites that provide free accounts to be set up for public viewing. One such site is http://www.webshots.com

Before uploading to the host site, photos should be cropped and sized to meet forum requirements. Maximum size is 500 pixels horizontally and 150 pixels vertically. If you do not have resizing and cropping software you may perform these tasks at http://www.snipshot.com

After the cropped and sized photo has been uploaded to the host site, open the photo as a guest (not as the albums administrator) and right click on the photo and select properties. Triple click on the location URL (to highlight the complete line) and copy it ( CTRL + C)

Back on the RV-Forum.Org site, after you log in,

Select the "user control panel" link located below the header bar at the top of each page.

Select the 'profile' Tab

From the left hand side, select the 'Edit Signature' tab

Enter the text for your signature

To place the photo, select the "IMG" tool then key (CTRL+V) paste

Then select the "submit" button at the bottom of the page.

You will see a message telling you that your signature has been updated.

Thanks Skip, I was just getting ready to ask the same question. I already have Webshots. com site and will set up new album for travel trailer trips.
Related question: Would the same rules be used for posting to picture board here? Same size limits? Are you posting at 72 or 97 pix per whatever? What about within or attached to a post? Haven't done much of this. Thanks again Skip and Bill.

Pretty much the same procedures but without the size limitations when posting within posts themselves. I suppose it would be a good idea to use a bit or reason about photo size to make them practical for viewing. If you're using them for an Avitar the size limitations are spelled out in that section of the set up in another tab next to signature set up. As far as I know there are no file size limitations at this time. Good luck / Skip

Photos attached to posts (as additions to a single post, not a signature picture that shows up in all posts) are much more automated so far as the process goes to add them - simply follow the directions in this post.

For signature images you will need to follow Skips directions, however, since (at least at this point) we do not have the ability to host signature images, although we do host avatar images.

Thanks Skip and PP, I will try to learn something new very soon. Never posted photos within msg or post before nor in a signature block.
