Button names?

Unread postby BillnJolene on Wed Jun 11, 2008 8:41 am

OK, maybe just me, but the Save button is driving me nuts. I know I need to hit submit. BUT, I have managed to hit save, and then it wants to save my draft, OK, don't want to do that, tried to back out with NO, the whole post goes away. I realize no software is idiot proof, but dang! Tried back button, but page was expired. So, my big post on sat TV in the A section is stuck in my head, and today I just don't feel like retyping.

My question, can Save be relabelled as Save Draft? Just for us guys that assume right to left in order of likely action?

The same thing happens to me as well. Instead of hitting the back button, just click on no when it asks if you want to save your draft now. It will take you back to the edit page and allow you to submit it. It does however clear out any options you might have selected. (Just did it again trying to submit this post)

I tried that, but it also cleared my entire message.

Left to right. Unless we just want to be different.

Almost did it again, but I moved the cursor off the button before it reacted. Is three no hope for me? Is the learning curve really this steep?

And to think of all the years I put in writing websites, programs, administering systems, it has all ccome to not being trainable on a post button.

I'll admit when I first switched all my other forums to this latest version of phpBB I occasionally did the same thing myself a few times. The good news is that you do get used to it.

In the meantime, if you click "Save" by accident, follow through with the procedure and let the forum save your post in your drafts folder. Go into your user control panel and locate it, and you can reopen and submit it. No chance of it getting lost this way if you try to go back.

I'll look into things and see if there's a way that the drafts feature can be disabled. It's really of little to no use in our current utilization of the forum IMHO.
