I've Done It Now!

Unread postby sneakersjay on Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:22 am

Health issues kept me from using my RV this year and I have one more surgery before I'll be back in the game for next spring.

My RV won't start; has had starter issues this summer where it only would start off the genny or if plugged in. One mechanic couldn't diagnose it. Now it just clicks repeatedly but won't start. Thoughts?

Also I think I burst a pipe. I need to winterize and this morning started the genny and turned on the hot water because I was going to do some cleaning and 15 minutes later my brother bangs on my door. Water is leaking out of the RV from undr the fridge area and above the hot water heater.

I don't have time to mess with it myself but I don't know any mobile RV people who can look at it. Would my regular dealership come out to get it started to get it in for repairs? I need some other work done as well.

I hope I haven't killed it. I've been neglectful this summer and fall due to health issues but really want to get it fixed.

Ouch! I don't have any suggestions for you, but am guessing you didn't "kill" it. Hope it's not too complicated/expensive a fix!

It sounds like a battery problem, any good mechanic could handle. A water pipe should be easy to fix. Good luck on your operation and all problems. :)

It sure is POSSIBLE that your local dealer would come out for a fix on both or either issue. Many of them are badly in need to business in these hard times. Starting issues are usually fairly minor with a gasser but sometimes more complex (read expensive) with a diesel. I hate to say it but if you burst a pipe due to freezing you MAY find more than one broken. When it's cold enough to break one it often is cold enough to break in more than a single place but maybe you got lucky.

In any case it's well worth it to get the RV back in top shape so you can REALLY start looking forward to getting your problems under control and get back out there. Best of luck / Skip

I've got it starting so at least I can get it to the dealership. It really hasn't been cold enough to burst a pipe but I suppose that's possible. So it's going in for repairs later this week.

I'm usually on top of these things. 2009 will be a much better year!

Whew! Glad you got it started & can get it in for repairs. Hope it all works out ok (and too pricey a fix either)!

I can hear the water but can't find where it's leaking. I took off the vent grate under the fridge...to find that the previous owners at one time had mice. There was a mousetrap back there complete with a petrified mouse.

I gave it a thorough cleaning today and will make up the bed when I get it back.
