Looking for input

Unread postby BobT on Sun Jan 31, 2016 11:19 am

Morning
The motorhome is 2008 Winnebago 40'Vectra DP with 425HP and 6 spd Allison trans
Presently, flat towing a 2013 Edge AWD.
Yesterday did conditional deal on 2016 Edge AWD ( yes, we like the Edge)
Made the deal conditional because one of the reps at the dealership said the new car isnt flat towable.
Interestingly enough, Ford's 2016 towing guide indicates it is flat towable.
I am thinking that there would definately be less wear and tear if the car is off the ground while travelling.
Not sure what the problems would be with things like, where does trailer go while at campsite?
Input both positive and negative would be greatly appreciated, suggestions also.
Hope the moderators allow this posting here because I didnt see specific topic for toads.
Thanks to all in advance for sharing.

We have been towing four wheels down since 1988 and will continue to do so.
If you use a dolly or a trailer you always have the problem of parking both. The dolly does not take as much room, but a full size trailer is a real problem in most parks. They just don't have big enough sites for a trailer as well as car and motor home.

It is getting harder to find vehicles to tow all wheels down, but to me it is still very much worth the effort to find one that works.

Hookup and un hook is only seconds when towing 4 wheels down.

Lots of luck and have safe and happy trips.

We extensively researched which direction to go when towing prior to heading off on our full time adventure. We tow four down and have done so for nearly two years. For us, its the only way to go. We prefer the Jeep Liberty for our tow vehicle.
